Great trip to Sicily: tasting three glasses of Etna wines
An unforgettable wine experience in Sicily. Taormina, Pearl of the Mediterranean, Hosts a Sensory Journey. Nestled in the breathtaking beauty of Taormina, La Plage Resort offered an extraordinary wine experience: guided by the enterprising Sommelier Giovanni D'Agata, guests embarked on a sensory journey through three glasses of Sicilian wines, discovering the wine treasures of this enchanted land.
A Journey of Flavours and Traditions
Three wines grown on Etna:
We start with a sparkling wine, Gambino, 64 months on the lees, pure nerello mascalese. Contrada Petto Dragone, fresh sensations and acidulous notes of lime, crunchy bread crust and a fine bubble.
Let's move on to the Cottanera company, on the northern side of Etna, 100% Carricante volcanic soil with very vegetal sensations as if it were a Sauvignon Blanc. It reminds us of citrus and Sicilian broom, rosemary and the subsoil are always present, as well as thyme.
We end with an Etna Rosato Pietradolce, we are still in Passopisciaro, pure nerello mascalese. It reminds of peach and orange, incredibly fruity and at the same time rich in a marked acidity. The Words of the Sommelier
“Each glass tells a story, an indissoluble bond with the land and Sicilian tradition,” said Giovanni D'Agata. “Through these wines, guests were able to appreciate the very soul of Sicily, a region that offers unique wine treasures in the world.”
